TL;DR: GoodTime is able to pull a candidate's Pronouns and their names Pronunciation from within the 'Additional Details' section of a candidates profile in Greenhouse.
Pulling the candidate pronoun and name pronunciation variables into interviewer-facing calendar events can be a great way to provide your interviewers additional context about the candidate they are about to meet.
The following video provides an overview of how the Pronoun and Pronunciation variables might be used in practice, and detailed below are some key setup and usage notes to be aware of:
1. SETUP:
To make these variables available, there are a few things you will need to do first:
1. You will need to create custom fields within Greenhouse by going to Settings Gear > Custom Options > Company Custom Fields.
- If you need any assistance in enabling these fields, please reach out to your Greenhouse CSM to ensure you have the appropriate fields included.
2. You may add either or both of these custom fields - {{PRONOUNS}} and {{PRONUNCIATION}}
3. Once added, please reach out to GoodTime Support (or your GoodTime CSM!) to confirm that you've completed items above. GoodTime will help enable the variables in your account accordingly.
- Pronouns token in Greenhouse is - {{PRONOUNS}}
- variable: $Candidate.CustomFields.Pronouns
- Pronunciation token in Greenhouse is - {{PRONUNCIATION}}
- variable: $Candidate.CustomFields.Pronunciation
4. Please make sure the custom fields names/tokens appear exactly as listed above.
2. USE:
To best use these variables within your scheduling workflow these are some things to understand:
1. When the Greenhouse token is in place you will see them appear on a candidate's profile as shown:
2. As will all $variables within GoodTime, a variable WILL NOT populate (will leave a blank space) if data it is attempting to reference is not present in the candidates profile. BEST PRACTICE: we recommend constructing the interviewer calendar event so that if these variables do not populate (because there is no data to populate) it will do so in a way that will not confuse the interviewer.
3. The GoodTime $Candidate.CustomFields.Pronouns and $Candidate.CustomFields.Pronunciation variables cannot be inserted into a candidate calendar event (they already know their own pronouns - in, fact they told you!)
4. It is a Greenhouse limitation that GoodTime cannot pull from the 'Personal Pronoun' field within the 'Additional Details' section of a candidate profile in Greenhouse. If you are automatically collecting pronouns as part of your application process they will appear in this field. Your recruiting team will need to manually copy and paste the pronoun details from the 'Personal Pronoun' field to the 'Pronoun' field to allow for this information to be pulled into an interviewers calendar event via the appropriate GoodTime variable.
5. BEST PRACTICE: is to NEVER make it mandatory for a candidate to share their pronouns... that does not mean you should not make it optional for those candidates who might like to share this information willingly to better support their interview process with your company.
