Request Availability - Candidate View
Last updated: October 12, 2026
TL;DR: When you send a Request Availability invite to a candidate they will be guided through a short process aimed at collecting their availability as seamlessly and accurately as possible.
Using the GoodTime Request Availability process offers some key advantages over collecting a candidates availability manually:
GoodTime's Request Availability Process:
Allows for complete Scheduling Automation
When using the Request Availability process with 'Require Review' turned off, GoodTime will collect the candidates availability and automatically schedule them to meet with your interviewers at the first available time.
To learn more please see: How To - Automatic Scheduling
Is mobile friendly
Candidates can provide their availability on the go increasing response time
Is customizable to your own employer brand
Have own employer brand shine through from the very start of the interview process. Customize with your own company logo, brand colors and images to showcase who you are as an employer
Auto-captures a candidates Time Zone
Eliminate the issue of forgetting to ask for a candidates time zone, GoodTime will read the candidates location and ask them to verify that this is their time-zone
Identifies total interview time
Based on your interview templates, GoodTime will clearly message your interview duration and will not allow a candidate provide availability less than the time you need (no more receiving 30 mins of availability for a 60 minute interview!)
A slot is one schedulable availability option determined by the requested interview duration; it is not a universal one-hour unit. Consecutive options on the same day may appear as one continuous window, so one visible window does not necessarily equal one underlying slot. Candidates must provide availability that accommodates the full interview duration.
Can be delivered in your candidates own language
Thanks to GoodTime's ongoing internationalization project your candidates can experience their Request Availability process in English, German, Spanish, Korean and Portuguese (*currently 13 different candidate facing languages are supported, more to follow)
Allows you to collect availability over multiple days
Have you heard this before? Candidates are too busy to take 3 hours off work to interview with you in a back-to-back manner. Provide your Candidate the option to provide availability that stretches across multiple days. 2 hours here, 1 hour there perhaps?
Collecting availability across multiple days, or splitting a schedule across multiple days, does not itself require each interview in a single Request Availability request to be on a different calendar date. In the reviewed workflow and documentation, no setting was identified that enforces separate dates for each interview. If strict distinct dates are required, submit a feature request; no customer-facing workaround is established here.
Auto Scroll to Business Time Zone:
When your organization interviews candidates from across the globe, it is common that the Request Availability workflow may show candidates possible interview options which are outside of their standard 'business hours'.
GoodTime intentionally displays possible interview times to the candidate in a way that favors interview options that more closely align with their own business hours (and we ask them to scroll to interview options that are also viable, but outside of their own business hours).
📝NOTE; While it is expected behavior that your interviewers will only ever be scheduled within their allowed business hours; it is common for Candidates to be surfaced interview times that are outside of their own business hours (but still within your interviewer's business hours). In situations when the only qualified interviewer is in Sydney Australia (for instance) and your candidate is in Los Angeles your candidate will receive available time slots outside of standard AEST (Sydney) business hours. GoodTime's displays available interview options to a candidate to ensures those times which are more 'reasonable' are favored; like 8:00am AEST/15:00pm PST as opposed to listing them chronologically and first displaying 02:00am AEST/09:00am PST.
Of course, personal and cultural preference mean that some candidates prefer to interview outside of their standard business hours to avoid needing to take time off work, or to take advantage of a quiet house for example. For this reason GT will always show all available interview options to a candidate, even if they are outside the candidate's standard business hours.
