INTERNAL - Migrating from Zoom to Google Video

Last updated: March 16, 2026

TL;DR: This INTERNAL ONLY article is designed to provide a quick summary of the talk track typically used when a customer is looking to migrate from using Zoom Video to Google Meet video tools within GoodTime:

Key Messaging for Customers

Moving from Zoom to Google Meet is low risk because both integrations can run at the same time in GoodTime. The recommended approach is to allow an overlap period where existing interviews continue using Zoom while new interviews are scheduled with Google Meet. This avoids the need to update existing interviews and ensures a smooth transition.

30-Second CSM Script: Zoom → Google Meet Migration

“Good news — migrating from Zoom to Google Meet in GoodTime is actually very low risk. Both integrations can run at the same time, so you don’t need to update any interviews that are already scheduled.

The typical approach is to connect Google Meet in your company settings, enable the setting that only generates a Meet link when the token is present, and then update your interview templates to replace the Zoom token with the Google Meet token.

Once that’s done, all new interviews will automatically generate Google Meet links, while any previously scheduled interviews will continue using Zoom. After those Zoom interviews finish, you can simply disconnect the Zoom integration.

We usually recommend doing a quick test interview after updating templates just to confirm the Meet link is generating correctly.”

Steps to Migrate

1. Plan a Changeover Window

Typical approach:

  • Pause scheduling briefly (e.g., Friday afternoon)

  • Connect Google Meet

  • Update templates

  • Save changes

2. Connect Google Meet

Go to Company Settings → Integrations

  • Connect Google Meet Video

  • Leave Zoom connected during the transition

  • Turn on:

“Generate Google Meet link only when a token is present.”

This prevents duplicate video links if the company calendar auto-generates them.

3. Update Interview Templates

Customers must update all templates.

Interviewer event

  • Remove Zoom token

  • Add Interview Google Meet link token

Candidate event

  • Remove video tokens

  • Replace with messaging like:

Please use the Join button in your calendar event to join the interview.

(Google Meet operates just like Teams video in that ONLY the Interviewer Cal event needs the $google.video token.

4. Run a Test Interview

After updating templates:

  • Schedule a test interview

  • Confirm Google Meet link generates correctly

5. Allow Zoom Interviews to Finish

  • Existing interviews keep their Zoom links

  • New interviews will generate Google Meet links

6. Disconnect Zoom

Once all Zoom interviews have run their course (and GoodTime is not using the Zoom integration to generate video links any more you can safely disconnect this integration)

Company Settings → Zoom → Disconnect

Key Tips

  • Always recommend an overlap period

  • Ensure Zoom tokens are removed from templates

  • Always run a test interview before going live
