5. Interviewer Training - Automations & Advanced Workflows

Last updated: February 26, 2026

TL;DR: Once you’ve set up Interviewer Training Paths and added Trainees, you can use automations to reduce manual work: auto-enroll people into paths, automatically add/re-add classes based on feedback, and link training paths on the fly from the scheduler.

1. Automation overview

There are three main automation/advanced features pillars in Interviewer Training feature:

  1. Auto-Enroll – Automatically add people to training paths based on tags, role, or other rules.
  2. Training Feedback Automation – Automatically collect training feedback from interviewers and create re-training classes as needed.
  3. On-the-Fly Training Path Enrollment & Linking – Link paths to templates and enroll trainees directly from the scheduling workflow when needed.

2. Auto-Enroll Trainees

Auto-Enroll helps you keep your pipeline of trainees flowing without manually adding each person.

This auto-enrollment process is triggered by a tag being added to a team member (e.g. Ready for Training, Engineering, Behaviour Trainee). Common times these tags might eb added to an employee are:

  • An employee hits a certain tenure.
  • A role/team condition is met.
  • An employee is promoted to a manager/Hiring Manager role

When conditions are met, GoodTime:

  • Adds the person as a Trainee into the specified path(s).
  • Sends the configured Enrollment email for that path.

Use Auto-Enroll when:

  • You have recurring hiring waves (e.g., new engineer cohorts every month).
  • You want standard training for all new managers, interviewers, or specific roles.

3. Training Feedback Automation

Training Feedback Automation ensures trainees aren’t advanced until they meet your quality bar – and handles re-training loops for you.

3.1. Enabling feedback automation
Per class (commonly reverse shadows):

  1. Open the training path.
  2. Edit the class.
  3. Turn on Require training feedback before advancing
    > Configure: Who must respond (all evaluators).
    > The timeout (e.g. auto-advance after 7 days, up to 30 days).

After each session:

  • Evaluators receive an email asking them to choose:
    • 👍 Move Forward, or
    • 👎 Needs Retraining

3.2. Passing vs re-training

To pass a class:

  • All evaluators must choose Move Forward

If any evaluator chooses Needs Retraining

  • GoodTime automatically adds a make-up class to the trainee’s path (when configured).
  • The trainee can be scheduled again for that class.

You can always override progress manually if needed.

4. On-the-Fly Training Path Enrollment & Linking

Sometimes you’re mid-scheduling and realize:

  • The template isn’t linked to a training path, or
  • A trainee should be enrolled in a path but isn’t.

On-the-fly linking lets you fix this without leaving the scheduling workflow (Request Availability or Schedule Now).

Use cases:

  • Link a path to a template from the scheduler when you see the graduation-cap “Linked Training Path” UI but haven’t configured the relationship yet.
  • Enroll a trainee into a path directly while scheduling if they should start training with this session.

This reduces “Oops, we forgot to add them to the path first” moments.
always override progress manually if needed.
